Licorice International, a small, family-owned business located in Lincoln Nebraska, has been delighting licorice enthusiasts since 1996. Now home to over 300 types of licorice and candies from 15 countries, Licorice International is run by a passionate team of licorice aficionados. In 2024, they partnered with Symmetry Commerce to migrate their website and POS to Shopify.

A Modern Refresh
Licorice International, a specialty retailer offering the largest selection of licorice in the U.S., partnered with Symmetry Commerce to transition their online store from a ProductCart to Shopify. Their previous site was dated and difficult to manage, with a clunky checkout experience, limited mobile optimization, and no easy way to highlight their best-selling products. As their customer base grew, especially through phone and catalog orders, they needed a more modern, reliable platform to support ecommerce growth and better showcase their unique product offerings. Over a focused 12-week engagement, we migrated their full catalog, rebuilt their site on Shopify using a clean and intuitive theme, and restructured their product pages and collections to improve navigation and upsell opportunities. We implemented Shopify’s native bundling features and subscription functionality to support popular items and recurring orders. Since launch, the team at Licorice International has reported faster site management, increased online sales, and a noticeable uptick in mobile conversion, helping bring the nostalgic charm of licorice into a modern, scalable ecommerce experience.

Unsynchronized inventory

Inventories in ProductCart (website) and Quickbooks POS (retail) were out of sync, resulting in manual inventory updates and missed revenue.

Customers were having difficulty navigating and checking out, leading to lost revenue and customer churn.

Lack of innovation on the ProductCart platform limited website enhancements and led to slow and expensive updates.

Results
Synchronized Inventory Online and Offline inventories are now in sync and regularly updated. It’s much easier to increase revenue and AOV with accurate available to sell inventories.
